No. 6 seed Anca Todoni secured her third WTA 125 title by defeating Leyre Romero Gormaz 6-3, 6-2 in the Megasaray Hotels Open Antalya 1 final. The victory was sealed in 1 hour and 26 minutes.
The 20-year-old Romanian had previously won two WTA 125 trophies in 2024, in Bari in June and in Santa Cruz in October. All three of her titles at this level have been on clay courts.
Todoni, who entered the Top 100 this week at No. 100, has revitalized her 2025 season with this title run. After a promising Australian swing, where she achieved her first WTA 500 main-draw win in Brisbane and qualified for the Australian Open main draw, she experienced a slump, winning only one of her next five matches.
Her form seemed in jeopardy when Todoni lost the first set to Panna Udvardy in Antalya, but she rallied to win 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. She also fought back in the quarterfinals against No. 3 seed Arantxa Rus, winning 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-2. In the final, Todoni`s powerful serve and aggressive baseline play were decisive. She landed 67% of her first serves and won 71% of those points.
No. 157-ranked Romero Gormaz reached her first WTA 125 final after a strong tournament run. The 22-year-old Spaniard defeated No. 8 seed Wei Sijia and overcame promising young players Ella Seidel and Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva. She also won a tough semifinal match against Maja Chwalinska 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Former No. 42 Clara Burel returned to competition in Antalya after a three-month break. In her first tournament of the season, the Frenchwoman defeated No. 7 seed Nuria Parrizas Diaz and reached the semifinals. She retired against Todoni due to a back injury while trailing 6-2, 3-2.
The top two seeds were eliminated in the first round. No. 1 Emiliana Arango lost to Chloe Paquet 3-6, 7-5, 6-2, and Veronika Erjavec upset No. 2 Diane Parry 7-5, 6-4.
Chwalinska compensated for her singles semifinal defeat by winning the doubles title with Anastasia Detiuc. They defeated Jesika Maleckova and Miriam Skoch 4-6, 6-3, [10-2] in the final. This is their second title together and their first at WTA 125 level. For Chwalinska, it was her third WTA 125 doubles title, and for Detiuc, her second.
