Stephen Curry Injury Update: Warriors Get Positive News

The Golden State Warriors are relieved to announce positive news regarding Stephen Curry’s recent injury. After exiting Thursday night’s game against the Toronto Raptors due to a hard fall in the third quarter, Curry underwent an MRI which revealed no structural damage.

Curry sustained a pelvic contusion and will not accompany the team on their upcoming road trip, starting with Saturday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks. He is scheduled for re-evaluation on Monday.

The injury occurred when Curry was driving to the basket. While passing the ball back, he was knocked off balance by Raptors rookie Jonathan Mogbo, landing heavily on his tailbone. Despite initial pain, Curry was able to walk to the locker room independently.

Coach Steve Kerr mentioned post-game that Curry initially wanted to return to the game in the fourth quarter, but the team opted for caution. Kerr expressed hope that the injury was not severe.

Fortunately for the Warriors, it appears Curry’s absence will not be extended. Since the team’s trade for Jimmy Butler, Curry has been performing exceptionally well, averaging 26.5 points per game. The Warriors have a 12-2 record since the trade deadline, improving their playoff position in the Western Conference.

Upcoming key games include matches against the Memphis Grizzlies on April 1st and the Los Angeles Lakers on April 3rd. Depending on Monday’s re-evaluation, Curry might be able to return for these games.

Another factor to monitor is Curry’s eligibility for end-of-season awards. He needs to participate in at least five of the Warriors’ remaining 12 games. As long as his recovery progresses as expected, he should meet this requirement. Curry’s season averages of 24.2 points and 6.0 assists, with 39.4% three-point shooting, strengthen his case for All-NBA consideration.

This injury is not seen as a major setback for the Warriors, especially with Butler’s addition to the team. Butler’s presence lessens the offensive burden on Curry and enhances Golden State’s defense. During Curry’s temporary absence, Butler will need to take on more offensive responsibility.
