Jason Kidd Joins Everton Ownership Group: Premier League Club Views Mavericks Coach as ‘Incredible Resource’

Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd has officially become part of the ownership group for Premier League side Everton FC. He joins Roundhouse Capital Holdings, a branch of The Friedkin Group (TFG), which completed its takeover of Everton in December.

A press release stated that Kidd`s knowledge and experience are anticipated to serve as a significant asset, described as an `incredible resource,` for the Premier League team.

In a statement, Kidd commented, “I am honored to join Everton`s ownership during such a crucial period. With a new stadium planned and a promising future ahead, it feels like a perfect time to become involved.”

Everton`s executive chairman, Marc Watts, also released a statement, saying, “As one of the NBA`s greatest players and now a successful coach, his expertise and winning mindset will be an invaluable resource for Everton. He is a highly respected figure well-known to many sports enthusiasts and will contribute a deeper understanding of achieving peak performance as we work together towards a brighter future.”

Kidd was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2018. His playing career included 10 NBA All-Star selections, five All-NBA First Team honors, and an NBA championship with the Mavericks in 2011. Since 2021, he has coached the Mavericks, following stints as head coach for the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks.

This marks Kidd`s second reported interest in Premier League ownership. According to The Athletic, he was previously part of a five-person group that submitted an offer to acquire Crystal Palace in November 2024.

The Friedkin Group (TFG) initially reached an agreement in September to buy the 94% ownership stake held by former majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri. The completion of this transaction was approved in December.
