After a decade of working together, Jasmine Paolini and her coach Renzo Furlan have decided to part ways. World No. 6 Paolini shared the news on her social media, expressing that she will no longer be working with Furlan, who was recognized as the 2024 WTA Coach of the Year.
Paolini acknowledged the significant impact Furlan had on her career and personal growth. In her Instagram post, she mentioned that everything she learned from the former ATP World No. 19 since they began working together in 2015 will remain with her as she enters a new phase. She emphasized that he will always hold an important place in her life.
Furlan dedicated himself fully to coaching Paolini starting in 2020. Last year, he was honored as the WTA`s top coach, a testament to his role in guiding Paolini from outside the Top 30 to a career-high World No. 4 ranking. Their successful partnership also saw Paolini reach two Grand Slam singles finals at Roland Garros and Wimbledon.
Together, Paolini and Furlan achieved further milestones, including winning a gold medal at the Paris Olympics with Sara Errani, qualifying for the WTA Finals in both singles and doubles for the first time, and leading the Italian team to victory in the Billie Jean King Cup after more than ten years.
Paolini`s announcement comes shortly after she reached the semifinals of the WTA 1000 Miami Open, where she was defeated by Aryna Sabalenka. So far in 2025, Paolini has a 12-6 record in singles.
In closing, Paolini expressed her deep gratitude for Furlan`s time, dedication, and sacrifices, particularly being away from his home and family. She reiterated her respect and appreciation for his professionalism, passion, and the values he has instilled in her throughout their years of collaboration.
