Injury Worries for Arsenal Ahead of Real Madrid Game

LONDON — Arsenal`s manager Mikel Arteta is dealing with fresh injury concerns before their crucial Champions League quarterfinal second leg against Real Madrid. Thomas Partey and Jorginho both had to leave the pitch during Arsenal`s 1-1 draw against Brentford due to injuries.

Partey was substituted in the 69th minute shortly after scoring. He appeared to have a muscular problem. Arteta mentioned that Partey `felt something` but did not specify the exact issue.

Jorginho also exited the game soon after, visibly uncomfortable. Arsenal played with 10 men for the last few minutes of the match, including added time, after his departure.

Arteta explained Jorginho`s issue, saying, `He said he could not breathe properly, it might be related to his ribs. It`s unusual for Jorgi to stop playing, suggesting it`s a significant problem.`

Regarding Partey, Arteta was more cautious, stating, `He felt something, so we didn`t want to risk it. We`re unsure about his availability for Wednesday; the doctors will assess him.`

Losing either Partey or Jorginho, especially Partey, would be a significant challenge for Arsenal as they prepare to face Real Madrid. Being without both would create a major problem, limiting Arteta`s midfield options. While Rice could move to a deeper midfield role, it would create another gap in the team.

These midfield injury concerns are not the only problems for Arsenal. Ben White was absent from Saturday`s game after suffering an injury in training. Arteta commented, `He wasn`t fit to be in the squad today. We have a few days to see if he recovers.`

Arsenal has faced a number of injury issues this season, with Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka previously missing games. Gabriel is already ruled out for the rest of the season, and Kai Havertz`s participation in the final games is uncertain.
