Harry Kane: Trophies Won’t Change My Mindset

Harry Kane, the renowned forward, might soon secure his first major trophy. His transfer to Bayern Munich almost two years ago has been beneficial in numerous ways, according to the player himself.

With a significant six-point lead in the Bundesliga and only seven games remaining, Bayern are strong contenders for the title. This victory would potentially silence critics who believe his lack of silverware diminishes his status as a top goalscorer of his generation. However, at 31, Kane emphasizes that his pursuit of trophies is not the sole driving force in his career.

In a CBS Sports interview, Kane stated, `There`s been much talk about trophies, but whether I win one or twenty, it won`t alter my approach.` He added, `My daily focus is on self-improvement, being a great teammate, and maximizing my abilities. I feel I`m currently at my peak and aim to maintain this level for as long as possible.`

Kane`s consistent goal-scoring ability, previously demonstrated at Tottenham Hotspur, has seamlessly translated to the Bundesliga, which is unsurprising given his reputation. This season, he has scored 33 goals in 38 matches across all competitions for Bayern. While this performance is in line with expectations, Kane believes his move in 2023 has facilitated his development, particularly in the context of competing for major titles. Bayern`s ambitions this season also extend to the UEFA Champions League, where they are set to play Inter in the quarterfinals, aiming for a final appearance in their home stadium on May 31.

Kane further explained, `Consistent participation at the highest level, in crucial matches, is what sets players apart.` He acknowledged periods at Tottenham with high-level competition, but also times when they weren`t as competitive. He values `doing it consistently year after year, facing the best teams and defenders, and maintaining a high level of performance. This consistency is what I find most rewarding.`

Kane also credited Bayern manager Vincent Kompany for his positive influence on his game during his first season at the club.

`I`m very impressed with Kompany`s tactical coaching abilities,` Kane remarked. `Our playing style this season, characterized by a high press, man-to-man marking, significant ball possession, high intensity, and counter-pressing, is excellent and very attacking.`

He continued, `Kompany has always been recognized as a strong leader, which he has carried into his coaching. He treats everyone equally, regardless of their experience. He provides honest feedback, highlighting both strengths and weaknesses, which the players respect. Throughout your career, you always seek improvement, and I feel I`ve already grown under his guidance. He`s refined aspects of my game, and I appreciate working with him.`
