World No. 4 tennis star Coco Gauff is set to showcase high-fashion style on and off the court this spring and summer, thanks to a partnership between her sponsor, New Balance, and luxury fashion house Miu Miu.
The champion of the 2023 US Open unveiled this new capsule collection on Wednesday. This line is part of New Balance`s existing collaboration with Miu Miu, the Italian luxury label established in 1993 by Miuccia Prada, head designer of Prada. Gauff is no stranger to Miu Miu, having previously worn their designs off the court, including two custom dresses for last month`s Oscars in Los Angeles and a sparkling gold dress for her April 2024 Vogue cover. The current collaboration, however, emphasizes both athletic performance and street style, providing her outfits for specific Hologic WTA Tour tournaments.
She plans to wear three distinct, high-fashion outfits at three different tournaments: the upcoming Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome, followed by events in Berlin in June and Cincinnati in August. Each kit will feature color schemes inspired by or linked to the respective tournament.
In Rome, she will sport a “classically elegant” combination of navy and white with red details on the clay surface. For the grass courts in Berlin, she`ll switch to green and white with touches of sky blue. Returning to the US for the Cincinnati tournament, which she won previously, her attire will combine appropriate royal blue with additional red accents.
Each ensemble will be finished with coordinating silk zip-front hoodies and track pants. Gauff will also wear custom versions of her signature New Balance shoe, the Coco CG2, specially redesigned through the New Balance and Miu Miu collaboration.
“I showed them the silhouettes I prefer, and we used that as a starting point,” stated Gauff, who has been partnered with New Balance since 2018, in an exclusive interview with Vogue marking the collection`s release. “We discussed what could be done in tennis fashion that is either entirely new or rarely seen.”
The full New Balance x Miu Miu collection featuring Coco Gauff will be available for a limited period starting shortly after the US Open ends, with a public release date of September 10th.
