FIFA Club World Cup 2025: Schedule, Dates and Key Matchups

The upcoming summer will feature a significant change to the football calendar with the debut of the expanded FIFA Club World Cup. This revamped tournament will be held in the United States and brings together 32 teams from six confederations worldwide, all competing for a share of the substantial $1 billion prize fund.

A host of prominent clubs are set to participate in this new format. The lineup includes major teams such as UEFA Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain, legendary Argentine side Boca Juniors, and many others, each aiming for a deep run. European clubs constitute the largest contingent with 12 teams, while South America sends six representatives. Four teams each hail from Asia and Africa, and five teams, including three from MLS, represent North America. Oceania has one spot, filled by the sole amateur participant, Auckland City.

While the ultimate goal of winning is universal, the stakes and expectations vary. Teams like Lionel Messi`s Inter Miami hope to make a notable impact as potential underdogs against the widely favored European giants such as Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Inter Milan, the latter seeking to end their season with this prestigious piece of silverware.
