Dutch Football Player Injured in Selfie Fall Incident

Dutch footballer Zakaria Eddahchouri, who plays for Deportivo La Coruna in Spain, was injured after reportedly falling from a seaside promenade while attempting to take a selfie in the coastal city of A Coruna.

RC Deportivo confirmed on Saturday that Eddahchouri is currently being kept for observation at a hospital in A Coruna following an incident that occurred on Friday. Initial medical examinations revealed the player suffered “minor injuries.” He is receiving appropriate medical care from the hospital staff.

The club also publicly expressed its gratitude towards the emergency services for their swift and effective intervention at the scene.

According to reports from local media outlets, firefighters and an ambulance were called to the location during the night after receiving information that someone had fallen onto rocks below the promenade. Eddahchouri was reportedly rescued with the aid of a ladder before being transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Eddahchouri, a native of the Netherlands, joined Deportivo La Coruna in January. He has made six appearances for his new club so far, scoring two goals. Deportivo La Coruna is currently positioned 13th in Spain`s second division.

The player had featured in Depor`s recent match on Saturday, playing the full 90 minutes in their loss to Granada.

As of now, specific details regarding the nature of Eddahchouri`s injuries or an estimated timeline for his potential return to the pitch have not been disclosed.

Deportivo La Coruna has two remaining matches in the Segunda Division season. Their season will conclude at home on June 1st with a game against Elche, a team that has already secured its promotion to La Liga for the 2025-26 campaign.
