The Charlotte Hornets have acquired guard Collin Sexton and a 2030 second-round draft pick from the Utah Jazz in exchange for big man Jusuf Nurkić. The teams officially announced the transaction on Sunday.
Sexton, 26 years old, is poised to play for his third NBA franchise. In the 2024-25 season, he averaged 18.4 points, 4.2 assists, and 2.7 rebounds. The Jazz`s recent first-round draft picks, Ace Bailey and Walter Clayton Jr., made it increasingly probable that Utah would look to move a guard like Sexton or Jordan Clarkson this offseason to provide more opportunities for their new rookies and developing core players.
Nurkić, 30, joined the Hornets at last season`s trade deadline from the Phoenix Suns. That previous trade saw the Suns send Nurkić and a 2026 first-round selection to Charlotte in return for Cody Martin, Vasilije Micic, and a 2026 second-round pick. Nurkić played 25 games for the Suns before the trade to Charlotte.
Across his 51 total games last season for both teams, Nurkić averaged 8.9 points and 7.8 rebounds. His career averages stand at 11.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 50.1% shooting from the field.
