By the Numbers: Swiatek Reaches Stuttgart Quarterfinals

Iga Swiatek continues her winning streak in Stuttgart.

After a first-round bye, World No. 2 Swiatek advanced to the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix quarterfinals by defeating Croatian qualifier Jana Fett in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.

`I`m happy I found my rhythm,` Swiatek said after the match. `I took my time to adjust to the court, and it felt great. I`m glad to have another opportunity to play here.`

Swiatek has been a dominant player on clay this decade, and her Stuttgart record reflects this. In her fourth appearance at the tournament, she has consistently reached at least the quarterfinals.

Here are some key numbers highlighting Swiatek`s latest victory on clay:

11: Swiatek`s record at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix is now 11-1. She won the title in her first two appearances, defeating Aryna Sabalenka in the 2022 and 2023 finals. Her only loss in Stuttgart was to Elena Rybakina in last year`s semifinals, who went on to win the tournament.

18: With her win over Fett, ranked No. 153, Swiatek has now won her last 18 matches against players ranked outside the Top 150.

Her last defeat to a player ranked below No. 150 was over four years ago, against Ana Konjuh, ranked No. 338 at the time, at the 2021 Miami Open. (Alexandra Eala defeated Swiatek in Miami this year, while ranked No. 140.)

0: Swiatek cruised through the first set without facing a single break point. Fett also served well, saving six of eight break points in the first set, but couldn`t challenge Swiatek`s serve.

1:16: In the second set, Fett briefly gained momentum, breaking Swiatek`s serve in the opening game to lead 2-0. However, Swiatek quickly regained control, winning the next six games to secure the match in 1 hour and 16 minutes.

9: Double faults were costly for Fett, who committed nine in the match. One double fault lost her the first set, and another on Swiatek`s second match point ended the match.

81: In contrast, Swiatek served exceptionally well, losing her serve only once and winning 81 percent of her first-serve points.

0-4: Fett`s record against Top 10 players is now 0-4. However, she was close to a Top 10 victory in the past, holding two match points against No. 2 Caroline Wozniacki at the 2018 Australian Open. Wozniacki recovered to win that match and went on to win her first Grand Slam title at the tournament.

0-5: In the quarterfinals, Swiatek will face either No. 7 seed Emma Navarro of the United States or 2017 Roland Garros champion Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia.

Swiatek has a 2-0 record against Navarro, but her history with Ostapenko is different. Swiatek has never defeated Ostapenko in five career matches, including a loss earlier this year in Doha.
