Anthony Davis Expected to Return During Mavericks Road Trip

Forget the debate about whether the Dallas Mavericks should bring Anthony Davis back this season. The star player, who joined in the Luka Donćić trade, is preparing to play again and is expected to rejoin the team within the next week during their road games, according to reports. Davis injured his left adductor in his first game for the Mavericks on February 8.

Dallas sent Davis and guard Jaden Hardy to the G League`s Texas Legends earlier this week. Davis practiced with the Legends and is closer to returning than other big players on assignment, according to reports.

The Mavericks, who are missing Kyrie Irving for the rest of the season due to a knee injury, will play against the Brooklyn Nets on Monday, the New York Knicks on Tuesday, the Orlando Magic on Thursday, and the Chicago Bulls on Saturday. They have been struggling recently but have the same win-loss record as the Phoenix Suns who are currently in the 10th spot in the Western Conference. Although they could focus on getting a better draft pick, Davis is reportedly determined to play.

Reports indicated earlier this week that Davis is very eager to play and wants to return this season, possibly as soon as next week, even though some within the Mavericks organization have advised against it, believing the risk is too high and preferring to rest him for the season. However, Davis is not interested in these suggestions.

Davis has played 31 minutes for Dallas so far. Unless something changes, he is expected to play more before the season ends. The ultimate goal of his return remains somewhat unclear.
