Andreeva Extends Winning Streak with 20th Victory of the Year

Mirra Andreeva’s incredible season continues as she secures another win, marking her 20th victory this year and an impressive 13th consecutive match win.

The 17-year-old Andreeva, in her Miami Open debut, defeated Veronika Kudermetova in straight sets 6-0, 6-2 in the second round.

Here are some key highlights from Andreeva’s recent victory:

6: Andreeva is currently ranked No. 6 in the WTA rankings after winning the Indian Wells title. She now aims to achieve the “Sunshine Double” by winning both Indian Wells and Miami Open consecutively, a feat never accomplished by a teenager.

20: Leading the WTA Tour in main-draw wins this year, Andreeva is the first player in 2025 to reach 20 victories at the tour level. She needed just 68 minutes to win against Kudermetova.

13: Andreeva’s current winning streak is now 13 matches, all at WTA 1000 events. She is aiming for her third consecutive WTA 1000 title after wins in Dubai and Indian Wells.

3: Since 2009, only three women have won three WTA 1000 titles in a row: Serena Williams, Iga Swiatek, and Caroline Wozniacki. Andreeva is looking to join this elite group.

2005: Andreeva is the youngest player since Nicole Vaidisova in 2005 to achieve a 13-match winning streak across all WTA levels before turning 18. Vaidisova accomplished this feat 20 years ago; Andreeva was born in 2007.

1: Andreeva is the first teenager to win 13 consecutive WTA 1000 matches. She is also only the third player this decade to achieve such a streak at WTA 1000 events, alongside Grand Slam champions Iga Swiatek and Elena Rybakina.

10: Andreeva won 10 consecutive points during the first set of Friday’s match. She easily secured the first set, hitting seven winners compared to Kudermetova’s one.

9: After leading 6-0, 2-0, Andreeva faced her first break points but successfully defended them to win her ninth game in a row. Kudermetova then managed to win a game, but Andreeva maintained control and won the match.

0-0: Andreeva’s next challenge is in the third round against Amanda Anisimova, the Doha WTA 1000 champion. This will be their first encounter.
