The NBA postseason is in progress, and after the play-in week, we have an opportunity to reflect on the regular season. We`ve already predicted individual awards and provided regular-season grades for all 30 teams. Now, we are announcing our selections for the All-NBA, All-Defense, and All-Rookie teams for the 2024-25 season.
Remember, there are three All-NBA teams, but only First and Second Teams for All-Defense and All-Rookie. Also, note the 65-game minimum to be eligible for All-NBA and All-Defense, but not All-Rookie. For instance, Kevin Durant, with 62 games, won`t be on All-NBA, and Kris Dunn is ineligible for All-Defense despite his strong defensive season. Dunn played 74 games but didn`t meet the rule of playing at least 20 minutes in enough games to qualify. This is a specific rule to consider.
With these rules in mind, here are the staff picks for the 2024-25 All-NBA, All-Defense, and All-Rookie Teams, as voted by Brad Botkin, James Herbert, Jack Maloney, Sam Quinn, Bill Reiter, Colin Ward-Henninger, and Jasmyn Wimbish.

Four First-Team All-NBA spots were clear choices: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nikola Jokić, Jayson Tatum, and Giannis Antetokounmpo, all returning from last year`s First Team. The main question was for the fifth spot, which Anthony Edwards of the Timberwolves secured in a close vote. Edwards narrowly beat Donovan Mitchell, Stephen Curry, and LeBron James, all of whom received at least one First-Team vote from our panel of seven experts.
The Knicks and Cavs are the only teams with two players on our All-NBA Teams, with 13 different NBA teams represented overall.

There were three unanimous First-Team selections: Evan Mobley, Draymond Green, and Amen Thompson. Mobley and Green received multiple votes in our Defensive Player of the Year selections earlier in the week, indicating a close DPOY race. Both are featured here, along with Thompson, Dyson Daniels, and Lu Dort in the First Team. The Thunder, with the league’s best defense, have two selections, including Dort on the Second Team.
