The 2025 NBA playoffs are currently underway. The Cleveland Cavaliers have secured their place in the second round, completing a 4-0 sweep against the Miami Heat in Game 4 on Monday night. They join the Oklahoma City Thunder, who also swept their first-round opponent, the Memphis Grizzlies. Also on Monday, the Golden State Warriors took a 3-1 series lead over the Houston Rockets with a Game 4 victory.
The Warriors are one of five teams now just a single win away from advancing to the second round. On Sunday, four other teams achieved 3-1 leads by winning their respective Game 4s: the New York Knicks defeated the Detroit Pistons, the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Los Angeles Lakers, the Boston Celtics overcame the Orlando Magic, and the Indiana Pacers were victorious against the Milwaukee Bucks. These results put their opponents (Pistons, Lakers, Magic, and Bucks) on the brink of elimination.
As Tuesday`s games approach, the only series still tied is the Western Conference matchup between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Denver Nuggets, which is knotted at 2-2 after four closely fought games. The winner of this series will advance to face the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Fourteen teams remain in contention for the NBA championship trophy. This number is expected to be reduced to eight by Sunday, May 4th.
