Luka Dončić made his playoff debut for the Lakers, scoring 37 points against the Timberwolves on Saturday, but L.A. was outplayed inside. The 4-5 matchup between the Nuggets and Clippers is highly anticipated, featuring Nikola Jokić and Kawhi Leonard. Game 1 went to overtime in Denver, with the Nuggets ultimately winning.
In the East, experts anticipate a straightforward first round. On paper, the Cavaliers and Celtics are expected to handle the Heat and Magic, respectively, which aligned with the outcomes of their series openers on Sunday. The Knicks had lost the season series to the Pistons, but they are heavily favored in this best-of-seven matchup and secured Game 1 with a decisive fourth-quarter run. The Bucks-Pacers series reignites a rivalry in the 4-5 matchup, though Milwaukee began the series without Damian Lillard.
